Hard Drive Destruction

Physical destruction of your hard drive is the only way to ensure the data is destroyed.

Wipe or format the drive even degaussing, the data may be recovered. We know this as we recover data for customers who have accidentally deleted important files. If a drive has failed the data is still present on the platters and therefore still potentially accessible.

We will punch the spindle from the drive and squash the platters. As you can see from figure 1, this renders the drive 100% useless.

The waste can be returned or more usually processed in an environmentally considerate way where the parts are separated and melted down for reuse. This process is WEEE compliant.

We can collect your redundant drives and remove them from the computers if required. We will log each serial number and place the drive in a sealed container, Transport the container to our premises where the drives will be destroyed.

After destruction a certificate will be issued by us that will again have the serial number of the drives which will fulfil your obligation to the Data Protection Act 1998 ensuring the secure destruction of confidential waste.

You have an obligation to the Data Protection Act 1998 to take “due care” of data whether it is sensitive company / customer data or Identity theft. These are some of the reasons you should use our service.

Cost is from as little as £6 per drive for 100 drives or more and this includes collection within reasonable distance, destruction and issue of a Certificate of destruction.

Please contact us if you have any special requirements i.e. drive removal.
